Details: Retail and office space refurbishment in Truro (2008-2009)

This project was shortlisted for the Michelmores & Western Morning News Heritage Award 2009. A redundant building society outlet was reconfigured into to two shops and self contained offices.

Numbers 5 and 6 High Cross, and 1 King Street were originally separate properties, but were combined into one for previous occupants. During 2009, RTP Surveyors designed and administered the contract for refurbishing these premises, after leading the 2008 reinstatement of their separation. This incorporated obtaining the relevant permissions, including Listed Building consent and Building Control approval. With RTP’s assistance, the practical re-configuration of the properties has also benefited from sensitive restoration of historic features.

We were acting on behalf of the owners of the premises, who needed to make the most of their investment by re-considering its use in the light of the economic recession. By dividing the unit back into its historic form, the client was able to secure appropriate tenants.
