On Friday 2nd October RTP took part in Socktober to raise funds for the Cornish charity, St Petroc’s.
St Petroc’s provide accommodation, support, advice, training and resettlement services to single homeless people in Cornwall. Their primary aim is to provide these services to people aged 16-65 years, and for whom no provision is made within the community, either statutory or otherwise.
To contribute to the cause and donate, the staff here at RTP wore odd socks and ate homemade sock shaped baked goodies. Despite being a busy day in the office with plenty of the team out on site, we managed to raise £24.62 for the charity with our efforts.
The Socktober event runs throughout October and so there is still time to take part. All you have to do is pick a day during the month and ask your colleagues, friends and family to donate a small amount to join in to raise awareness of St Petroc’s and the work they do. If you join in be sure to follow them over at Twitter (www.twitter.com/@stpetrocs) and upload your photos using the tag #socktober15 so they can see your lovely odd socks!
Alternatively, visit the St Petroc’s website at www.stpetrocs.org.uk/home to learn more about the work they do and other ways in which you can donate.
