Recognition from LABC and Michelmores for two historic buildings works.

We once again donned our gladrags as we headed to the LABC South West’s Regional Building Excellence Awards at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. It was a great evening and the team was very pleased to be placed as a finalist in the Best Individual Dwelling category for The Beach House project at Praa Sands near Penzance.LABC said of our project: “We applaud good building practice and reward projects that meet this criteria with our entries being judged by a panel of industry experts.”We were also very excited to find out that RTP had been shortlisted in the Michelmores Western Morning News Awards 2013 in the Historic Project of the Year category. The team was nominated for the sensitive restoration and rejuvenation of the former Falmouth Working Men’s Club, transforming it into Beerwolf Books. The Grade II listed building had been left empty since 2009 after the Working Men’s Club closed.Taken on by the clients in September 2010 with a view to change its use to mixed commercial and residential, the building was in a neglected condition and needed a great deal of repair, as well as refurbishment.

RTP designed, specified and supervised the internal and external alterations
