Domestic Client, Penryn

RTP were consulted regarding a refurbishment of a detached residential premises to form a House for Multiple Occupation (a residence for students).  Various options were considered and outline designs developed.

  • Bedroom before refurbishment.

RTP progressed submissions for Planning Permission and Building Regulations approval, along with the design development.

Construction materials were used to be compatible with the existing premises. Where the existing ground floor and rear flat roof was of solid construction (concrete), adjustments to levels were made and insulation fitted where details permitted. Timber ground floors in bedrooms were provided with thermal insulation to improve comfort and performance. The bedroom floor above the living room was provided with acoustic insulation.

RTP were commissioned to prepare the full design and specification of the refurbishment and conversion works.  RTP also managed the project to its successful completion.

Improvements were made to the configuration of the premises, with suitable sound insulation and finishes.  Safety devices for low cilled upper floor windows were installed and an integrated fire safety system provided.
